BELLY BUTTON PIERCINGS: FROM 2000 TO MODERN DAY

I don’t know about you, but when I think of belly button/navel piercings, I think of the early 2000’s.

I think of Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, all in low rise jeans, showing off a Navel piercing. While the piercing is just as fashionable today, with modern celebrities such as Haley Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Kourtney Kardasian now showing off their sparkly belly bars, credit does belong to the queens of the early 2000’s for its continuing popularity.

The Belly Button piercing is ageless and always adds that little something extra to anyone’s midriff. If your Belly Button is suitable for the piercing, you can rest assured that it will look fabulous on you regardless of your shape or size. Sadly not everyone has a navel which is suitable for the piercing, but as long as you go to a professional, the piercer should be able to find something that works for you.

Navel piercings rate a 4/10 on the pain scales as the area of the stomach is fleshy. It usually takes around 6-8 months to heal but is easier to take care off as you don’t need a mirror to see it. As always, you need to take proper care of the piercing; you can read up on aftercare on our aftercare sheet.

The Belly Button is usually accessorised by a belly bar which is a curved barbell that curves slightly outwards. Belly bars usually have a smaller bead on the top and a larger bead on the bottom, sitting inside the Belly Button.

Here at Karma, we pierce with a titanium belly bar where you have the choice between plain balls and the ones with sparkly crystals. Once the piercing is healed you have the option to swap your bar out for other types of jewellery including hoops, but you should ensure they are made from piercing safe materials. These materials are white, yellow and rose gold, titanium and surgical steel.

If you want a Belly Button piercing, come in and see us here at Karma Jewellery or book an appointment online to guarantee your spot.
